A chic, romantic Garden in Hampstead Village

The new owners of a unique, historic house in the heart of Hampstead Village wanted a soft, romantic, understated and slightly bohemian garden to complement their renovated Victorian house. A large area for entertaining and relaxing was required along with a discreet play house for grandchildren.

The garden surrounds the house on a sloping, corner plot and is composed of awkward spaces, which the client wanted to be as habitable and private as possible. It was designed schematically as one space but divided into four distinct, but connected gardens facing north, south, east and west, each with its own character united by geometry, materials and echoes of repeating planting.
