The owners of a beautiful, listed Regency house in an historic road in Hampstead wanted a contemporary garden design based on curves, which would pay homage to their house and meet the needs of a young family.

A tapered, Hornbeam avenue extends the view from the entrance vestibule before disappearing through planting beds filled with seasonal colour and texture. A formal terrace, paved in Welsh slate and edged with silver granite, anchors the house into the garden. Formal ‘cuffs’ of box and Photinia lollipops punctuate the terrace, leading the eye towards a large, teardrop shaped ‘infinity’ lawn. A waved, steel water wall echoes the sensuous curves of the garden and is balanced with a steel gazebo over a dining area; offset to catch the evening sun and allow an uninterrupted view. Arcs of Yew hedge divide the garden and screen the play area, vegetable garden, greenhouse and shed.
